Practical guide
Get a large card instead of a bare link
Without card tags a link on X can appear as plain text. Setting twitter:card to summary_large_image tells X to show the image, title, and domain as a card, which takes up far more of the timeline.
Because X falls back to Open Graph, one set of og: tags plus a single twitter:card line is often enough. Add twitter-specific tags only when you want different copy for X.
Privacy: Text you type stays in this browser tab. If you import a URL, PostlyBee downloads that public page once to read its tags and does not store it. Your browser loads the preview image directly from its address.
- 01
Add the card type
Use summary_large_image for a wide image card.
- 02
Set title, description, and image
Use a 2:1 image URL that is public and served over HTTPS.
- 03
Copy the tags
Paste them into the page head and test the live URL in a post draft.
Pro tips
Pro tips for X (Twitter) metadata
Pick the card type
twitter:card selects the layout. summary_large_image shows a wide image above the text and is the usual choice for articles and landing pages.
Falls back to Open Graph
When twitter:title, twitter:description, or twitter:image are missing, X reads the matching og: tags. Set both only when the X version should differ.
Titles are short, images are 2:1
Keep titles near 70 characters and use a 2:1 image so nothing important is cropped. Large files above 5 MB are not shown.
