How to add PostlyBee to Claude Code

PostlyBee is a remote HTTP MCP server, so there is nothing to install beyond Claude Code itself. Pick the tab that matches how you run Claude Code.

    Connect your social channels

    Start your 7-day free trial and connect the accounts Claude Code should post to, such as LinkedIn, X, or Bluesky.

    Add the PostlyBee server

    Run claude mcp add in your terminal, then sign in to PostlyBee from /mcp and choose the workspace to connect.

    Ask Claude Code to post

    Point Claude at a file or a commit range and ask for a post. It drafts the copy, shows it to you, and schedules after you confirm.

Which way should I connect Claude Code?

Both routes use the same PostlyBee MCP server and the same tools. The difference is how Claude Code proves who you are.

  • OAuth sign-in

    Best for: interactive sessions on your own machine

    Add the server URL and sign in once in the browser. Nothing secret is stored in your shell or repo, and you can revoke access from /mcp with Clear authentication.

  • Scoped API token

    Best for: claude -p, CI jobs, and shared project config

    Non-interactive runs cannot open a browser to sign in, so use a pbk_ token bound to one workspace. Give it mcp:read for reporting or mcp:write to schedule.

What is Claude Code?

Claude Code is Anthropic’s coding agent. It runs in your terminal, in VS Code and JetBrains, and in the Claude desktop app, where it can read your project, run commands, and use MCP servers like PostlyBee.

The Claude chat app and Claude Code share connectors: if you sign in to Claude Code with your claude.ai account, a PostlyBee connector you added in Claude shows up in /mcp automatically.

Ask for a post in the same session where you just merged the feature, with the diff still in context.

Scriptable

Run Claude Code non-interactively with claude -p to draft posts from scripts, cron jobs, or CI.

You approve the tools

Claude Code asks before it calls a new tool, and you can allow or block PostlyBee tools in your permission settings.

Automation

Draft release posts from CI with claude -p

Run Claude Code headless after a release to turn the changelog into social posts. Use the API token route, because a non-interactive run cannot complete an OAuth sign-in.

For unattended runs, ask Claude to save drafts rather than schedule, so a person reviews each post in PostlyBee before it goes out.

Allow only what the job needs

mcp__postlybee allows every PostlyBee tool for that run; combine it with Read so Claude can open the changelog.

Keep the token in a secret

Store the pbk_ token in your CI secrets and reference it from .mcp.json with an environment variable.

Review in PostlyBee

Drafts appear in your PostlyBee calendar, where your team can edit and schedule them.

Pricing and security

How much does it cost?

MCP access is included in every paid PostlyBee plan, starting from $9.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial. Claude Code itself needs a Claude plan or API access.

How is access secured?

OAuth sign-ins and API tokens are both scoped to one workspace. Tokens can be read-only, and you can revoke either one at any time.

Something not working?

If /mcp shows postlybee as needing authentication, sign in again. If the connection fails with a token, check that it has an mcp scope and includes that workspace.
