Gemini CLI + PostlyBee
Schedule social media posts with Gemini CLI
Add PostlyBee to Gemini CLI with one command and sign in from the terminal. Gemini can then turn your notes, changelogs, and files into posts and schedule them to your social channels.
- One command, then /mcp auth postlybee to sign in with OAuth
- Gemini asks before every PostlyBee tool call unless you trust the server
- Limit the tools Gemini sees with includeTools
$0 charged today, cancel anytime. MCP is included in every paid plan.
How do I connect PostlyBee to Gemini CLI?
Gemini CLI stores MCP servers in settings.json. The gemini mcp add command writes the entry for you.
- 1
Connect your social channels
Start your 7-day free trial and connect the accounts Gemini should post to, such as LinkedIn, Threads, or Discord.
- 2
Add PostlyBee to Gemini CLI
Run gemini mcp add, then /mcp auth postlybee inside Gemini CLI to sign in and pick a workspace.
- 3
Ask Gemini to post
Describe the post or point Gemini at a file. It shows each PostlyBee tool call and waits for your approval.
MCP server URL
https://api.postlybee.com/mcpBest on your own machine. Gemini CLI discovers PostlyBee’s sign-in automatically and stores the tokens for you. It needs a local browser.
- 1Run the command below. -s user adds PostlyBee to every project; without it, Gemini adds it to the current project only.
- 2Start Gemini CLI and run /mcp auth postlybee.
- 3Sign in to PostlyBee in the browser, pick the workspace, and approve access.
- 4Run /mcp to check that postlybee is connected and its tools are listed.
gemini mcp add -s user -t http postlybee https://api.postlybee.com/mcpConnection options
Where should PostlyBee live in Gemini CLI?
gemini mcp add writes to your project’s .gemini/settings.json unless you choose user scope.
User scope (-s user)
Best for: using PostlyBee across all your projects
The entry goes in ~/.gemini/settings.json, so PostlyBee is ready wherever you start Gemini CLI and no token ends up in a repo.
Project scope (default)
Best for: one project that posts about itself
The entry goes in .gemini/settings.json in that project. Use OAuth here, and do not commit a file that contains a token.
Capabilities
What can Gemini do with PostlyBee?
Gemini CLI works with your local files. PostlyBee gives it the tools to turn them into scheduled posts.
Write from local files
Point Gemini at notes, a changelog, or a folder of drafts and get posts written from them.
Plan and schedule ahead
Fill your next open posting slots or pick exact times, across one channel or many.
Generate images and video
Create an image or a short video for a post on the Growth plan and above, or import media from a public URL.
Post to communities
Announce releases in Discord or Telegram as well as on LinkedIn, Threads, or X.
Review the calendar
List drafts, scheduled, published, and failed posts for any date range.
Read analytics
Pull account and post analytics and ask Gemini to summarize what worked.
Approvals
Gemini asks before every PostlyBee tool call
By default, Gemini CLI treats an MCP server as untrusted and asks you to confirm each tool call. That includes reads like listing channels, so you always see what Gemini is doing.
We recommend leaving trust off for PostlyBee. To keep Gemini focused, add includeTools to the postlybee entry in ~/.gemini/settings.json, so it only sees the PostlyBee tools a project needs.

}Gemini CLI or the Gemini app?
This guide is for Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI is Google’s open-source AI agent for the terminal, and it connects to MCP servers like PostlyBee through settings.json. The Gemini app on the web and phone is a separate product with its own features, and this setup does not apply to it.
If you are building your own agent on the Gemini API, use the PostlyBee Public API or Node.js SDK instead.

Pricing and security
How much does it cost?
MCP access is included in every paid PostlyBee plan, starting from $9.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial. AI image and video tools need the Growth plan or above.
How is access secured?
OAuth sign-ins and API tokens are scoped to one workspace, and Gemini asks before each tool call unless you trust the server.
Something not working?
Run /mcp to see the server status and /mcp auth postlybee to sign in again. If only read tools appear, reconnect with write access.
