Practical guide
Write for a feed that is not algorithmic
Mastodon shows posts in order, so readers see what you write when you write it. Use the preview to check that the opening lands and that hashtags sit where they help discovery.
Servers and apps render posts differently. The preview is a simplified planning card, so confirm the final result in the PostlyBee composer for the connected account.
Privacy: Your copy, account details, and any image you add stay in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded to PostlyBee or an AI service.

Pro tips
Pro tips for Mastodon posts
The limit depends on the server
Mastodon servers set their own limit, and 500 characters is the default. Check your server’s limit if it is different.
Links count as 23
Mastodon counts every link as 23 characters, however long it is. The preview applies the same rule.
Hashtags make posts findable
Mastodon has no algorithmic feed, so hashtags are how others find your post. Use a few relevant ones, with capital letters between words for readability.
